Stitched Narratives

Stitched Narratives

As of this weekend my solo exhibition ‘Stitched Narratives’ is on show at Het Noordbrabants Museum.

The exhibition consists of old and new works. I am extremely happy with how it turned out. I hope you all will like it too.

In Stitched Narratives, Hemaseh tells stories in her own way. Her work, executed in combinations of textiles and ceramics, can be seen as a puzzle piece connecting the West and the Middle East. With her series of tapestries, Hemaseh wants to show that language is not the only way to communicate or express your love. In a seemingly simple ritual, such as drinking tea together or peeling fruit and eating it together, two parties can find each other, even without speaking each other’s language.

“Hemaseh’s work is surprising in its use of materials and themes. Recognisable and accessible but also alienating. It is the account of a personal search for identity. Understanding one’s own self.” – Hans November, Head of collection and presentation Het Noordbrabants Museum.

I also got to give a fun short interview for the museum. You can read it here.

The exhibition can be seen until January 14, 2024.

This show is part of the ‘Brabantse Nieuwe’ series. In which starting, promising artists from North Brabant are given a stage at Het Noordbrabants Museum. For more information on visiting the exhibition click here!

Jubilee Exhibition at Galerie Bart

Jubilee Exhibition at Galerie Bart

This year, Expo Bart and Galerie Bart are celebrating a twenty-year milestone in the art world.

To celebrate, they asked the artists they work with to create a special work. My work is on display during the Jubilee Exhibition along with many other works by different artists. The artworks presented have a symbolic size of 20 x 20 cm and will be shown exclusively at the gallery from 29-06 until 23-07.

In Addition, the gallery will organize special events, from studio visits to a talk by one of their artists.

A Public Affair

A Public Affair

Young Collectors Circle, Oedipus Brewing and Dead Darlings present A Public Affair, an exhibition of art curated by a community of art lovers and collectors, combined with live music, talks and workshops about art and an anonymous multidisciplinary art auction by Dead Darlings. A Public Affair gives you the opportunity to get involved in the art world and tell your own story about what art means to you. This is a great opportunity to start – or expand – your own collection, or to simply be inspired by new people and artists.

My work ‘Snake Charmer’ will be part of this exhibition along with works of 27 other artists.

The exhibition A Public Affair can be visited during Amsterdam Art Week on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday between 12pm and 6pm.
Opening Thursday (31/05) 18:00 – 21:00.
Schaafstraat 21

Getting Lost

Getting Lost

A little while ago, I had the pleasure to participate in a project of The Orchid and the Wasp called Getting Lost. On March 18 from 15:00 to 18:00, the exhibition will open with the overview of all the entries at NDSM FUSE (Wunderkammer mini). On view until July 23.

‘Getting Lost’ is an exhibition where artists share a part of their artistic process with texts and images from their own inspiration. Enter their world of confusion and the joy of making art. ‘Getting Lost’ was inspired by the book ‘A guide to get lost’ by Rebecca Solnit.

‘The Orchid & the Wasp’ is a project space initiated by Maud Oonk in 2015. She initiates exhibitions and encourages artists to experiment with new forms of presentation by focusing on their creative process.

Participating artists; Rodrigo N Albornoz, Lola Bezemer, Ian Carr, Wineke Gartz, Giorgos Kontis, Adriano La Licata, Nanna Lahn, Sandra Lane, Hemaseh Manawi Rad, James Mason, Hanna Monola, Suzanna van Oers, Barbara Prada, Pablo Ponce, Barbara Rink, Stephanie Rizaj, Mari Stoel, Ellen Ogowa, Meret Zimmerman.
