Ver & Nabij

Ver & Nabij

The exhibition Ver & Nabij – gebroeders Van Lymborch x hedendaagse kunstenaars (Far & Near) opens today at the Stevenskerk in Nijmegen.

Ver & Nabij explores the connections between the impressive late medieval paintings of the three Van Lymborch brothers and the work of leading contemporary artists. By placing historical and contemporary art side by side, the exhibition adds a new and dynamic perspective to the world-famous oeuvre of Herman, Paul and Johan van Lymborch.

The dialogue is created through a wide range of media, including contemporary painting, sculpture, installation and textile art, as well as photography, video, animation, fashion, and jewellery.

In addition to several existing works, I was commissioned to create a new piece especially for this exhibition. For this work, I drew inspiration from the Van Lymborch brothers’ Ontmoeting der Wijzen from the Très Riches Heures.

The exhibition runs until 6 April. For more information and tickets, click here!

Myths, Dreams and New Realities

Myths, Dreams and New Realities

I’m excited to announce my upcoming exhibition, Myths, Dreams and New Realities at Saatchi Gallery. This will be my first exhibition abroad, a moment I’m truly grateful for and very much looking forward to.

Co-curated with Saatchi Gallery, the Bagri Foundation presents Myths, Dreams and New Realities. The exhibition spotlights 13 emerging artists from across the Asian diaspora, who each reimagine cultural identity through personal mythologies and visionary material practices.

Throughout the exhibition, human and non-human landscapes are revealed through painting and sculpture. Artists reimagine their relationship with land and body, drawing inspiration from craft traditions and ancestral memory. Whether working with natural pigments, found materials or industrial processes, each artist builds a unique reality, some built on myths or dreams whilst others on our own bodies, offering not just new ways of seeing, but exploring new ways of being.

The exhibition is on show from 24 October through 30 November. More information can be found here!

On Sunday 26 October at 12:00, there will be a curatorial walkthrough with Chelsea Pettitt from Bagri Foundation and myself. You’re more than welcome to join us!

Homecoming

Homecoming

I’m excited to invite you to ‘Homecoming’, a group exhibition curated by Alien Mag at the Van Abbemuseum. The show explores the meaning of “home”, not just as a physical place, but also as a person, a feeling, or a memory.

Through a variety of personal perspectives, the participating artists reflect on where and how they feel at home. My work is included alongside Rita Pieternella, Larissa Schepers, Miranda Gashi and Irem Pınarbaşı. Together we invite you to consider: What does home mean to you?

I hope you will visit this beautiful exhibition between 28 June and 7 December 2025!

Roaming Epics

Roaming Epics

Last February I had a week-long residency at the Bewaerschole in Burgh-Haamstede for the program: Nomadic living, wandering in times of overpopulation. The program asks contemporary artists to reflect on and experiment with certain social current events and urgencies.

During my residency at the Bewaerschole, I thought a lot about migration and the meaning of “home”. In the months leading up to my exhibition ‘Roaming Epics’, I created several new works in my studio. With these works I tell fictional stories about a nomadic group traveling the world. The stories are told through large banners decorated with images of good and evil. They appear to be mythical scenes passed down through generations, but many of the images can also be traced back to the here and now. A fusion of cultures and generations.

In addition to the exhibition at the Bewaerschole, a work is also on display at the Burghse Schoole in Burgh-Haamstede.

De Bewaerschole is open every Friday through Sunday from 14:00 – 17:00 til June 9.
