Stitched Narratives

As of this weekend my solo exhibition ‘Stitched Narratives’ is on show at Het Noordbrabants Museum.

The exhibition consists of old and new works. I am extremely happy with how it turned out. I hope you all will like it too.

In Stitched Narratives, Hemaseh tells stories in her own way. Her work, executed in combinations of textiles and ceramics, can be seen as a puzzle piece connecting the West and the Middle East. With her series of tapestries, Hemaseh wants to show that language is not the only way to communicate or express your love. In a seemingly simple ritual, such as drinking tea together or peeling fruit and eating it together, two parties can find each other, even without speaking each other’s language.

“Hemaseh’s work is surprising in its use of materials and themes. Recognisable and accessible but also alienating. It is the account of a personal search for identity. Understanding one’s own self.” – Hans November, Head of collection and presentation Het Noordbrabants Museum.

I also got to give a fun short interview for the museum. You can read it here.

The exhibition can be seen until January 14, 2024.

This show is part of the ‘Brabantse Nieuwe’ series. In which starting, promising artists from North Brabant are given a stage at Het Noordbrabants Museum. For more information on visiting the exhibition click here!
